Hazardous Materials Worker
A Hazardous Materials Worker is a skilled tradesperson who specializes in the safe handling, removal, and disposal of hazardous materials, such as asbestos, lead, and radioactive waste. They use specialized equipment and protective gear to minimize exposure to these materials and to prevent environmental contamination. Hazardous Materials Workers may work in a variety of settings, including industrial facilities, construction sites, and government agencies. They must follow strict safety protocols and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries and to ensure that the hazardous materials are disposed of properly according to local, state, and federal regulations.

Minimum Standards

Apprenticeship
3000 hours of on-the-job training, supplemented by 102 hours of in-class technical training (schedule of which can be delivered several ways).
