Sheet Metal Worker
A Sheet Metal Worker is a skilled tradesperson who specializes in the fabrication, installation, and maintenance of sheet metal products and systems. They work with a variety of materials, such as aluminum, steel, and copper, and use specialized tools and equipment to shape and join sheet metal pieces together. Sheet Metal Workers may be responsible for designing and creating HVAC ductwork, ventilation systems, and roofing systems. They work in a variety of settings, including manufacturing facilities, construction sites, and HVAC companies, and must follow strict safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries on the job.

Duties & Responsibilities

Measure, cut, fit, install and/or secure glass panes, window parts & architectural metals

Read and interpret drawings & specifications

Work with and install plastic, granite, aluminum panels and other similar materials used as glass substitutes

Work from mobile equipment, scaffolds and swing stages, sometimes at great heights, to manoeuvre glass panels that are lifted by cranes and other lifting equipment
