Roofer

A Roofer is a skilled tradesperson who specializes in the installation and repair of roofing systems. They must have a good understanding of various roofing materials, such as shingles, tiles, and metal roofing, as well as the tools and techniques required to install and repair them. Roofers may be responsible for measuring and cutting roofing materials, installing flashing and underlayment, and sealing roofs to prevent leaks. They work in a variety of settings, including residential, commercial, and industrial, and must follow strict safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries on the job.

Minimum Standards

  • Grade 12 Diploma preferred (Grade 10 minimum)
     

Apprenticeship

3520 hours of on-the-job training, complimented by two 8-week in class technical training sessions

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and replace flat and sloped roof systems, specializing in membrane roofing systems.

  • Handle the installation, replacement, and repair of shingles, slate, shakes, and roofing tiles on sloped roofs, including green roofs and solar panels.

  • Provide waterproofing and damp-proofing services for roof systems.

Approx: $46/hr
