A Plumber is a skilled tradesperson who installs, repairs and maintains plumbing systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. They must have a good understanding of plumbing codes and regulations, as well as a wide range of plumbing fixtures and materials. Plumbers may be responsible for installing and repairing pipes, fixtures, and appliances, such as toilets, sinks, showers, and water heaters. They must also be able to diagnose and repair leaks and other plumbing issues. Plumbers work in a variety of settings and must follow strict safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries on the job.

Duties & Responsibilities

Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems in domestic, commercial, or industrial settings.

Mark positions for pipe connections and fixtures in walls and floors.

Cut openings in walls and floors to facilitate the installation of pipes and pipe fittings.

Measure, cut, bend, and install pipes using a variety of hand and power tools.

Join pipes together using clamps, screws, bolts, or cement.

Perform welding on pipes when required.

Conduct tests on pipes to identify and address any leaks.

Prepare cost estimates for plumbing projects.

Read and interpret blueprints to guide plumbing installations and repairs.
